    Hey Guys,

I work for an insurance company and I have been approaching the bigger networks to try and become a merchant on them. The only thing is, I have been told by some of the bigger networks that they do not want my business because they "have enough of merchants in the insurance industry" on their networks. If they haven't said just a plain no, they have been really blunt and rude in their replies. I was very annoyed and frustrated by the unprofessionalism to say the least! So me and a few colleagues were wondering how hard it would be to try and build our own network. Any feedback would be gratefully appreciated? Or anything what you would like to see? As an affiliate or as a merchant? All comments and opinions are welcome!

I look forward to hearing from you!

    Jo

    Hi Jo,

I've had similar experiences when trying to set up programs and it can be frustrating. However, affiliate networks need to make profits, so if they don't see your program having potential or offering significant profitability to them, then it's unlikely they will go for you.

It might be worth looking at some of the smaller networks, or those that are more designed for smaller or niche merchants such as Affiliate Future - I've always found them helpful and not too expensive

As far as running your own affiliate network or indepedent program - this is very time consuming and needs a lot more man power!

    Good luck though!

Hi Jo, you could maybe try Online Media Group http://www.omguk.com or Smart Quotes http://www.smart-quotes.net/ who both specialise in finance related products.

Many merchants do choose to work directly with affiliates and run in house affiliate schemes. There are various software solutions which will help you with this. Direct Track is one that springs to mind. It is important to remember though that many affiliates prefer to work through networks as they can often be considered the "trusted third party" who will (in theory) help to resolve disputes etc.

    With best wishes.

As Steve says, approach OMG and Smartquotes as these two have the majority of financial based products and may be happy to discuss a plan with you. They are certainly the two I would approach if I was representing a financial or insurance based company.
