Both please. Now that I know its that big I'm oging to make a site based around it!
Hi,
We currently have a very large product feed on webgains (about 180,000 products, with descriptions). I thought it would be good to give affiliates all of our product to promote, but in practice it seems to cause problems for affiliates because of the large file size, and only a few intergate the complete feed.
Unless there are major objections, we are now thinking to replace this product feed by a feed for the 1000 bestselling products, in the Games, Music, Video and Toys categories only. (We are already doing this for our US program with shareasale).
Please let me know what you think. Complete product feed or 1000 bestsellers only ?
cheers
Stefan

yes, i agree it would be good to have 2, but we can only have 1 per network ...
Couldn't you provide one on the network and then just a raw feed to be downloaded from your site? i.e small on the network, large to be downloaded direct from you
Designer Men's underwear, swimwear, socks and t-shirts click to join our program deadgoodundies.com
up to 20% commission | full product feed | 90 day cookie | No end of month tier reset
yes, I guess we could, but then affiliates will have to put their own tracking code.
Webgains allow you to choose specific categories from within the datafeed anyway, so if you supply the full feed the affiliate is free to choose which products they wish to use from it

I have finally completed the much needed overhaul of Martial Arts Movies which takes a while to load using the big feed only. Unfortunately it would appear that you have cut the size of the number of displayed movies but not the file size. Namely everything is listed but only some have the url....so for now I'm using the old version I have cached.
I'd like to continue using the large feed for now.
In time I might be able to run separate feeds for each movie category, activated when a user clicks on the menu and only display the best sellers in the centre of the page.
However to do that would require a major rewrite of the script with a snapshot of the existing categories (currently feed generated) being static links to the datafeeds and for the corresponding feed to then display in the centre.
That's for next time. At the moment it does take a long time to load but with over 50,000 movies listed I'm not surprised as the script reads the entire database in order to display the menu and the images.
I don't know if cutting things down to 1,000 movies as you now offer would be the best thing to do. Yes it makes for quick loading and customer retention but as you'll see from the category layout, my concern is that unless there is something in each category of movie I would continually have to edit the webpages as well as they all display in .html

The revamp was certainly needed Stefan. The upload time is an issue sure and if I can eventually get csv feeds for individual categories of movies I can always add my affiliate id using a script and carry static categories down the left column.
BTW Google.com list me number 2 of 21,200,000 for the term Martial Arts Movies.![]()
Now with a better looking site I'm sure things will improve organically.

One addition to the other posts Stefan. The old feed with 58,000+ movies was a little over 30Mb. The feed with about 2,500 movies is a mammoth 28Mb+.
It lists over 65,000 movies but only has full details for the 2,500. So loading still takes ages. I'd have thought a cut down feed with just the lines for the ones to be promoted (the 2,500) would be a very small feed compared to what it currently is.![]()
Aaargh! The feed displays ALL 65,000 but only shows the PRICE for most of them! No dvd product name, no url, nothing! Quickly changing back to my cached copy.
New feed that works urgently needed.
