How many links?

Hello to you all!

Thanks for reading this, and hopefully answering my question.

Realistically how many links can I have coming from another relevant content website to mine, and google will still rank it well (better than without the links)

I am about to undertake an affiliate program. My website “cars” (example) will put banners on a forum to do with cars. Every page of the forum will have banners linking to my website. 70 percent of the forums’ banners will link to my site.

The content on the “car” forum is all relevant and changes on a daily basis.
What is better in this case, text links or banners?
Do you think I will have problems?

Text links are almost always better.

Multiple links from one site to another are known as "sitwide" links. SE's tend to give full credit for the first link, and then severely reduced credit for any subsequent link to the same URL. If you have several links going to different URLs, you should get full credit for each of the primary links to separate URLs
