I use Secure Trading for all my credit card orders and I found out today that they have had a powercut for a whole day and not let their customers know. Does anyone know where I stand on this as I have definately missed out on sales and to quote the person on the phone at secure trading "So have we!!"
I very much doubt you will get anything in terms of compensation.
It's bad form that they didn't notify you but perhaps the power cut also affected internal systems as well so they had no way of doing so.
my tip is always have a secondary payment system that you can switch to or run concurrently with your primary (in our case we also offer paypal payments as you can use your credit/debit card with it as well) and if you see your sales dropped below your normal daily rate stick a test order through to be sure.
