Networks - Get Your Merchants Creative In Order!

Sorry based on a few posts I feel I need to put this Rant onto the lounge for discussion - as I feel I am not the only one with a problem.

I am still amazed by the problems with merchant ad creative available through networks.... Networks, perhaps you can give you merchants clear guidelines when they sign up to your network as to how to manage content.

I see all these merchants desperate to make easy money from affiliate marketing yet still seem to struggle with the basics....

Merchant Creative Guidelines!
1) Do not put your URL on any ad creative.
2) We recommend you create a set of banners which you update reguarly
728x90, 468x60, 120x600, 120x240, 120x60, 120x120, 234x60, 300x250
88x31 Static Logo, 120x60 Static Logo
3) If you have regular promotions, then we recommend you do one set of the above which are basic branding, then create another set which is promotional. Your promotional set should then be updated every 6-8 weeks.
4) We recommend you create a datafeed - which should be updated regularly
5) Textlinks - Keep these simple and perhaps 1 per area of your site e.g. Womens Clothing.

Am I asking too much? If the above was implement by every merchant then affiliates would have more time to optomise sites as opposed to getting bogged down in pointless admin.

Rant Over!

drivetowin seems to know their stuff
Absolutely agree Helen - I would also add to that:

1. Do not under any circumstances put your telephone number on your banners
2. Why not supply the same banner but on a number of different coloured backgrounds - if I've got an orange site and your banners all have a green background then they are not really going to work too well.
3. When updating creative, replace existing creative but keep the creative the same size for each code.
4. Provide a choice of gif and flash creative - and some static banners too - that way we can avoid making our sites look like fairground arcades on aceeed.
