consumer offers - anyone else get annoyed!

Is it me or are retailers getting more and more complicated with offers?

This year there seem to be companies doing day by day offers, weekly offers, special day offers! It's almost like s**t that offer didnt work, try another one quick!

I wish companies would just set their christmas offers on the 1st Dec and then run them for the whole of December. That way they don't carry on enforcing this wait and wait on the consumer to get the best offers and deals.

Sitting with my consumer hat on, I spent £200 on a photo company website a few days ago as they had the best offers - but today is a different matter if I had just waited the competitors offers would have resulted in a £75 saving!

Perhaps i am on the only one, but it just seems retailers are forcing themselves down the path of lastminute sales (which is not what they want!)

Rant over

This is the danger when they start having sales in December - people don't want to risk having spent over the odds.

I remember the old days when you could buy masses of shoes in the sales in January for next to nothing. Now most shops have "bought in for sales" stock which is seriously overpriced tat.

Just trying to see the other side of the coin here but if I ran my own company I would rather run 4 weekly offers during December rather than do the same test over 4 years and waste potential time and profit.

Agree with you Helen. Too many promos.

But it can and does backfire: for example, whenever I see a company giving away 'free flights' I am instantly put off it 'cos I know it is going to be more or less a scam

Lets not forget the Waterstones 6hr offer the other day! The offer was over before I was even accepted on their programme via TD

Luckily Buy.At accepted within an hour or so, but still not enough time (not notice) to make a single sale. Ah well...
