Hi AJ,

Welcome to the forum!

Best thing to do is to read the forum, there is an unbelievable amount of info on here.

Some pointers tho...
- If you set up an affiliate program, then you'd either do it independently, or via a network(there is a list of the major networks just to the left <-----)
- The networks provide the interface for affiliates and the merchant (you) to cooperate
- You would need your site to have some sort of trackable action (like an enquiry form) which you would pay affiliates commission on.
- Do a bit of digging to see if your competitors and running a program and if so, what rates etc.

Good Luck!

Mitch

To run an affiliate program you will need to invest in tracking. This is so that you are able to know which of your affiliates brought you the business so that you are able to pay the correct affiliate for this business. You will also need a couple of creatives (such as banners) the affiliates can use to promote your website with. Alternatively, try offline marketing. You will be surprised how well internet products sell offline.

  Re: advice!

set up sub-domain folders, one for each affiliate. You Must Dissalow indexing from all search engines in this folder. You must not link to this folder from your site proper, some wise guys will try to get you banned by linking to your main site and to your affiliate folder thus trying to create a duplicate content issue but it will not work assuming you implement noindex nofollow and or robot.txt correctly.

You can further increase protection by creating a 301 in htaccess from the affiliate landing page to a secure cart page or other, each affiliate will need their 'own cart page'

The affiliate will want access to stats for their particular cart/page, some merchants send out multiple emails auto when a sale has been made.

One to customer, one to affiliate (usually with email address and geo address removed)

Or you could just join cj's and let them sort it...for a big fat fee

But they will also use a 302....bad for me no difference for you however, but you need me more than you need cj.

If you wanted to you could set cookies (most are blocked...this chrimbo with all the new pc sales even more will be blocked, so I would forget cookies, just maybe mark up on all sales, so if you were thinking 10% make it 30%, no cookie tracking worries, no network fat fees and most importantly no 'unhappy affiliates'

Where do I sign up?

I really appreciate your feedbacks, but to be honest Sammy, 90% things you have mentioned have just passed over my head and left me think that I will never be able to do successful affiliations. However I will find some cheapest way to implement these good points you’ve mentioned.

Shelly! What do you mean by offline marketing? You mean giving ads in newspapers etc?

I have recently started google adwords, and using both site targeted and keywords targeted campaigns, but no success so far, well I have been charged fortune though, I don’t mind to pay a lot more but only if I get confirm business that’s why I am looking for serious networking. Somebody told me to email directly to companies who are in companies formation, domain and hosting, or other similar business who can offer their customers discount on my services, like discount voucher etc. idea is very good but again I am not sure if I can email them directly giving this offer? or they can get offended by this and consider my email under spam? Seriously looking for serious business willing to offer huge discounts but couldn’t find a way.

Regards

AJ
