  Ie7

So, how many have taken the plunge and installed IE7?

If so, have you noticed any problems with existing sites not displaying correctly etc?

Anything to watch out for?

  Re: Ie7

yup I did it the other day.

Noticed some navigation has been compressed height wise on a few sites, the lower 2/3 of the second line of text in some cells has been tucked behind the next cell down

It doesn't hide the second line of text totally but most of it.. around 65% probably.. very annoying sometimes but it doesn't happen on every site.

Since it's come out of Beta it seems almost fine. I've noticed a few minor issues mainly revolving around how it deals with CSS. Doesn't stop anthing working just makes some sites look a bit funny.

More Bugs than an average ant hill !

Some standard features you have to find and turn on, url issues, common page load problems.

Not regretting it totally yet but certainly some teething problems.

  Re: Ie7

Hmmm, I must admit I've been clicking 'Dont Install' for a few weeks when the Windows update box appeared but took the plunge this morning.

Seems ok so far although I have to agree with Brett that CSS does seem a bit odd on some sites (left margins not quite the same as they were in IE6 and things like that).

Is there anyway of testing sites in IE6 if you've got IE7 installed other than having a second pc?

  Re: Ie7

The main problem ive found is not the bugs themselves - but the lack of documentation about them; i.e. IE=<6 has plenty bugs, but the cause, effect and workarounds are well known, and we can build accordingly.

We need more time to get to this stage with 7

If you use dreamweaver for ftping of your site, you may find it no longer saves your ftp details after installing ie7

  Re: Ie7

Downloaded it, installed it , hated it, de-installed it.

Nothing wrong in the software itself just didn't like the new layout and tend to use firefox almost exclusivley for day to day browsing and work and only go back to IE for testing purposes. So i've left it on a old PC so when I need to test can just go over to that PC

So thats the reason i'm having to enter all my passwords and usernames on dreamweaver everytime I do something.

Any idea why it does this and how to get round it?

  Re: Ie7

I only use it as my secondary or tertiary browser when I have to be logged into stuff from different perspectives, or for a browser I don't mind deleting all my cookies on.

It seems fine to be honest, and a step forward from 6 (which was more like a version of 7 without the functionality, IMHO)
