  Best hosting for .co.uk site?

Hi all

I'm brand new to affiliate marketing and have purchased a .co.uk domain that will be marketed to UK consumers. Where's the best place to get hosting for this domain?

I hear US is cheaper than UK hosting, will this affect natural search listings on UK search engines though??

Thanks!

If you are targeting UK customers, it is best to go with UK hosting. It will effect SEO ranking if someone clicks on "UK only" in google. Some people say that if you have a .co.uk on an american server, you will still appear on UK searches. But I think the best practice is to host in the UK for the UK market.

As for a good host - my advise is to not go for the cheapest. In this game, you get what you pay for, and customer support with your host can make or break you. You need one that will sorted out any problems quickely.

I use Clook (www.clook.co.uk) and they are excellent. They will generally respond to tickets within about 10 minutes (actually, often within about 2 minutes) and will stay in constant contact via email until the problem is resolved. And they often go beyond the call of duty and sort stuff out that is not strictly their responsibility. And their reseller accounts are not too expensive. So the best of all worlds.

Re: Best hosting for .co.uk site?

Cheers for the advice. I see from the other hosting thread a few peeps reccommend meirhosting.net too. Anyone else have experience of these guys?

I'm planning to run just one affiliate site, online shopping orientated with banners, text links and the such. How much storage space am I likely to need i.e. how much will I end up paying per year in hosting??

If it is just one site and does not need a database, then you won't need much space at all.

Something like the Cooper package from Clook, or equilivant with another hosting company, should be enough. That is £29.99 per year.

You can always upgrade your package at a later date if you run out of space.

Here is a list of Clooks shared hosting packages:

Thanks for that Stellar - it won't have a database so a basic package is all I need I guess.

Looking forward to getting going with it this month!
