Networks not using Sender Policy Framework

Morning all,

As part of our drive to reduce the spam we receive we're implementing SPF on our mail servers. As part of that we tried to implement a generic catchall rule for domains without the required dns entries; however I was amazed to find most Networks fail even the most basic checks. e.g. checking to see if the sending mail server matches an MX record, checking to see if the PTR record for the IP address resolves to the same domain, etc.

As a request to all networks, please can you add a TXT record to your domain to designate a sending mail server so that mails pass through without fuss? Most ISP's now have this implemented so it would also reduce your bounce rate for legitimate mailings.

I guess this would be a sensible option for any affiliate running a newsletter too.

Ta muchly.

PS Yes, I know that MX records are meant to designate where to send mail to, not where it is coming from

Paid On Results has this already, have done for ages.

From the DNS Report

PASS SPF record

"You have an SPF record. This is very good, as it will help prevent spammers from abusing your domain."
