New web site & need affiliate marketing advice

Hi to all, I have just started with a4u as I have just starting a new venture.

I have just started my own website Thisismyhome.co.uk and am working on a shoestring budget. At the moment my designer is puting the finishing touches to the pages -search box and directory pages still are works in progress...

I am looking for any tips or advice anybody might give on how to get people to link into and/or advertise my website on theirs. For no upfront outlay. My website guy has set up a 2 tier affiliate programme That we feel pays good referral commission, but I am really struggling to get the message out there, and get people to link to or promote my site.

I have got banners etc. within the affiliate programme but still no affiliate marketers. Am I doing something wrong?

Any tips or suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

As a sceptic, I usually head on over to the T&C section of any website I want to check out quickly - usually it's revealing!

For example, are you "this is my home", "Thisismyhhome" or one of the other variations mentioned and are you in Yeovil or somewhere else?

I'm in a similar market so I'm not going to spell it out but here's another example:

OK - on the plus side your site looks nice and has a lot of information for people buying and selling houses.

On the negative side, it's only got 72 houses for sale and none at all to let (so how you can say you are "The Number One UK Property Site") - I'm really not sure.

If you've got deals with all of those other property sites you say details are submitted to, why not have their properties on your site too. To be blunt you need more houses, 100s more houses before anyone will take you seriously...

You say you're struggling to get the message out there, I'd say it's more like a hoarse whisper in a cathedral - there's nothing there to get a message out there about, sorry, but you're entering a crowded market where there are players with much more money than you and many more properties to sell than you - it's a nice dream but it ain't going to work unless you really have got money to throw at it - find something else to do instead.

And it's buggy - I clicked on place advert and got Failed loading c:\php5\ext\ioncube_loader_win_5.0.dll PHP Warning: require_once() [function.require-once]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in C:\Domains\thisismyhome.co.uk\wwwroot\advert\adver t.php on line 4 PHP Warning: require_once(http://www.thisismyhome.co.uk/templa...erTemplate.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in C:\Domains\thisismyhome.co.uk\wwwroot\advert\adver t.php on line 4 PHP Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'http://www.thisismyhome.co.uk/templates/HeaderTemplate.php' (include_path='.;c:\php5\includes') in C:\Domains\thisismyhome.co.uk\wwwroot\advert\adver t.php on line 4
