So I have a chance to grab an awesome domain that is expiring but how do I go about getting it?

When I check the whois data it says it expires 24th Jan and it has the following below it:

    Status: clientDeleteProhibited
    Status: clientRenewProhibited
    Status: clientTransferProhibited
    Status: clientUpdateProhibited

What does all this mean, is it a good sign and more importantly how do I get the domain?

that lot just means the domain cant be transfered by dodgey means

if the domain is still active and it is then you gonna have to wait a bit.... the domain itself will not drop on the 24th depending on the domain extension and register i can take a couple of months before being released ..... best bet is to keep looking after the 24th but someone might recommend a name dropping service but if its a good domain nmae then their screw you by saying other people wanted it and itll be put up for auction.. but on another note i received an email from one such company about a .com that was expiring and since i had the .co.uk would i like them to get it for me for a meer £100 ..... no thanks i just registered it myself for a tenner but i did send them an email thanking them for telling me about it and how im now the proud owner of it

It means that you must reveal the domain name to me, before you can try and renew it

Dont reveal the Domain to anybody. Is is a good name? If it is... the dropcatchers will get within a slit second of the drop. To be safe, pay a drop catcher to catch it for you. Go ask at Acorn domains forum.... they are the boys.

Very true. If it's a really good domain you will have little chance of getting it if you try and catch it on expiry. One tactic you can employ is trying to contact the present owner in writing or e-mail before it expires and make them an offer.

Can't recommend one, but see also:
