My 'Offers' Page - thoughts please?

If anyone has the time or inclination, I'd be grateful for thoughts on the 'offers' page of my website http://homeworking4me.co.uk/offers.htm. Do you think it looks okay as it is? Can you sift through the offers with ease? Or does it seem all muddled and difficult to understand? It's the one page that I can dedicate completely to affiliate marketing so any thoughts or ideas would be very welcome.

Now then mate like to be honest about these things. Not fond of the colour black (not wanting to start a whole big brother thing) just do not think it looks too nice on a web page.

Also haveing two columns put me off a little I was more likely to look only at the bigger one to the left.

Still plenty of offers and may take up a couple.

So basically more harmonious colours and a little better set out.

This being said if I tried to do it it would look like a spider on acid.

hope this helps.

Thanks, Kev. Thought the darker colour might make it look a bit less dazzling and thus keep the visitor on but maybe I'm wrong about this. I can see what you mean by the two coloumns and will look into it. Thanks again for your input, your feedback is much appreicated.

I don't like domains with numbers in unless it's actual text speak and means something, but if you're bothered, homeworkingforme.co.uk is still available, it will save you saying, "that's a number 4 not the word."

Hi.

I don't want to be negative about your hard work but you may want to look at the sitepoint collection of books regarding web design and HCI. This will help in designing a good user interface.

Lighter colours work for me and with the correct use of css you can change them sitewide very quickly.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your feedback, Levelbest - are you referring to the offers page or to the site as a whole? I know it's not perfect and I am working on it all the time and making changes. I know the 'offers' page needs imminent work which is why I posted this enquiry - just wanted a bit of feedback as to how to approach it, what's working, what isn't etc., I do appreicate your comments though, thanks.

You might find the "sitepoint collection of books regarding web design and HCI"
on sitepoint

or do a search for "sitepoint collection of books regarding web design and HCI"

Re: My 'Offers' Page - thoughts please?

It's worth using your own experience as well - have you ever arrived at a similarly overloaded page and given it any time, or like me, do you wince and move on? My guess is the latter. Why would any other surfer act differently. It's difficult to read, there's no sense to the page and it's overwhelming (a bit like MySpace really)

Now. If it was me and I wanted to feature all these offers. I'd make a simple index page. Single column, unordered lists broken down into categories. Finance Offers - Headlines, Entertainment - Headlines, etc. Then I'd link each offer off to it's own page where you can add details and give a bit more background.

Added bounus then is you can drop people onto the offer pages via PPC, and it's a lot more focused and likely to convert than dropping them on an offers page like yours, which won't.

Yeah, DioBach, it does make sense. I do think it's a bit overwhelming and I will now look into making some changes. Thanks for your feedback.
Jay
P.S. Don't know if you've had time to look at other pages - any comments if you have?

Hi.. I'm not sure I'm allowed to post url's here.. but they are only example sites so I will.

Take a look at http://www.naturesbest.co.uk/ as an example of good colour use. Its a busy site but looks very professional.

This is one of my favourite designs : http://www.adobe.com/support/dreamwe..._updaters.html

Very subtle use of colour. looks great.

I would tone down the heavy use of blue on yours and go for lighter colours. Lose the black too.

If you use subtle colours any banners and linking graphics are more likely to stand out.
