changing affiliate IDs on site banners, feeds etc - advice needed

i need to change different types of affiliate links on a site to my own affiliate id.

for simple banners and text links, is a simple find & replace on the aff id enough for the tracking to work correctly? ie, I dont need to go onto each affiliate network site and get the code for each link. obviously im signed up to the relevant programs.

what about feeds, content creator (POR), ad tool (TD) etc...? With the content creator links, I know I have to go onto their site to make my own links, as the javascript messes up if I just change the aff id. But ad tool links look fine when I put my own aff id in, however does the tracking work?

thanks :]

Bare affiliate links should be OK, however some content units on some networks also have a unique template ID thats owned by the account holder that created it.

I am presuming that you own the site you are changing the links on?

yeah I do. its a good site with lots of content already up, but also lots that needs doing.

im just figuring out how best to prioritise my work on it. my first aim is to get all the aff links swapped over, as there is a fair amount of traffic to the site which I want to capitalise on.

OK, if I were you though I would find and replace the eg 'id=youraffid' for tradedoubler and the '/youraffid/' on paid on results etc etc because if you just do a find and replace on the affid number it may also be contained in some other parts of the coding and corrupt it.

It *should* work on basic links but if I were you I would look a little bit harder at any content units and produce your own new ones.
