Charming.
Here is the story:
On March 3rd I posted an article on a blog I occasionaly post at.
A few hours later I submitted it to Digg because i thought it may amuse the Digg readers. The story got around 12 Diggs and didn’t really get a whole lot of attention.
The article was mentioned on a few forums and then amazingly an almost exact replica of the article was posted on another blog and submitted to Digg 24 hours later.
Within a few hours the replica article was on the main page and at the time of writing it has 2673 Diggs.
I don't personally feel cheated or robbed, that is life! but it certainly raises some major issues.
Can you simply re-post old articles and get tons of Diggs? Why have three people since been allowed to copy my post and re-submit to Digg? What can be done to help prevent this?
Here is the full case study: 2nd place is the 1st loser on Digg.com

Digg is slightly broken, I know of place where you can buy diggs. Plus if you're a member of a large forum you can just get all your cyber pals to digg you.
haha that was funny. I clicked on 'Is Digg.com Broken? (Case Study)', and got an error page from a4uforum saying database error!
Everythings broken!!!![]()
haha,
The Streetlessons.com server is temporamental (correct spelling?) as well.
The Internet is broken.... aarrrgggghhhh, save yourself.
read an article the other week on the same subject.. basically there's some kind of notification network in play that lets the uber diggers spot stuff... digg it and add more weight to their articles than the originals or something...
basically the general gist of it was that digg is flawed as some people hold more influence than others and are using that for personal gain in some way
Yes, it does seem that there may be too much importance placed on a select group of Diggers. No wonder people are being bribed.![]()
>> digg is flawed as some people hold more influence than others and are using that for personal gain in some way
LOL, understated as ever, roflmao
I can see the logic behind giving certain members more power, but Digg should be about what the general public like, not what 7 or 8 geeks like![]()
reddit used to be great. Articles about startups, technology, science, politics etc
Now it's been overrun with people like Digg and it's all "haha here's a funny picture of a bum"
Well very true people are being bribed to digg your articles and may be its simply your bad luck with the timing. may be the time everyone got the news and started looking for it your story was deep down.![]()
I used to only read Reddit. But now I can pretty much guarantee that whichever stories are on Digg are likely to also be on Reddit.reddit used to be great. Articles about startups, technology, science, politics etc
