    Hi,

I'm hoping that experienced affilates/merchants can help me out here. I've been doing a bit of research for affiliate products for my new site, but there just aren't any for the niche I'm in.

To explain a bit further, the field I'm in has a big market online and offline. I have been dabbling a bit in the selling side of things with ebay, but it's not something I really want to do full time. My new site is based on information, expertise & resources for the subject in question, which is all very well except for the resources bit.

I've signed up for a few affiliate programs, some of which are vaguely related to my site, but not the products I really want. It appears that the online shops which sell these products not linked to any merchant sites at all. However I have seen them on several shopping portals/directories and many of them have sponsored ads on google.

My question is, have each of these portals contacted the businesses directly and offered advertising on their sites? Several of the online shops I'm interested in appear in quite a few different portals, which would make me think that there is a merchant program out there somewhere covering this category. I just can't find them on any of the affiliate networks.

Sorry if this sounds a bit long winded! I'd really appreciate any advice.

Its hard to say if you dont mention the merchant

Two things spring to mind though

    1. email/phone the sites and ask if they have an affiliate program & if not ask about their relationship with these portals you mention

    2. consider using google adsense - then you get relevant ads on your site and you can earn per click

    Good luck

Drop me a note with the sites details and i'll certainly give them a call and have a chat about affiliate marketing.

That goes for anyone that has seen a site & wants to see an affiliate program for them - if they end up signing up to become a merchant will sort out some kind of kickback.

I would advise first to run google adsence , see the traffic coming in , the conversion, see what you can offer and have some proven reports.

then , dont waste your time so much , contact directly the publishers and try to get one big publisher to work with. get a tripple CPA and enjoy.

I know that for a fact, advertising 1-2 products /brands is more profitable than afifliate program promoting for you 15 types on sites , banners and non converting medias.

be involved in the media creation , select it smartly and even asist in creating it.

buit a partnership with 2-3 advertisers , trust me they will invest in you if you will invest in them.

I hope the web master wont remove it , but here are two smaples i could find in few minutes:

Thank you all for your help. I didn't mention the merchants I'm looking for, as it is still a new game for me, and I know there's a competitive market for the type of products I'm looking to promote.

I am running adsense on my site, and working on the content & SEO before I approach any merchants directly - there's not much on there to offer them just yet. It's a bit of a catch 22 really, my site is based on advice which includes where to find good products but until I get the visitors the merchants probably won't want to know.

I agree, a site full of various affiliate links won't get me anywhere, this is why I'm trying to find products that are specific to the niche.

Contacting the portal webmasters to ask them how they get their links seems a bit cheeky and I doubt if they'd tell me unless it's going to be of benefit to them?

Probably missing something here, there's so much to learn!

Thanks, I'll email you with the details.
