Stu, the web page ain't too bad.. well, I really like the header section at least!
My point exactly!
I know its a low search term, it's still quite competitive though.
As i say think small - there are LOTS of high search niche terms out there, i should know i have a fair share of them.
And i agree also that the humble web visitor gets a better experience.
PS - i know the web page is naff, it's an experiment![]()

I achieved something like this in back in 2004. I made a site for my sisters business which distributes a range of products and then posted a PR5 link from my company home page to it.
It went straight in #1 on Google in about three days and even outranked the manufacturers site for all their search terms including their name (670,000 results)
Through all the algo changes, it has always ranked #1 on Google and is still #1 now. Not only that, but it is #1 on Yahoo and MSN too.
Amazingly the site hasn't been updated since it was launched.
It is not just for niche terms that it ranks highly. It is currently #3 in Google for a search word with 89,000,000 results.
It was all through following white hat SEO principles.

Well done mate.
People believe EVRYTHING they read about seo and for the vast majority of the time it's true, but niche marketing is a different animal and different rules apply.
I'm not trying to change peoples thinking, just proving that you can step into a market in days, not months or years.

Well done!
As others have said though, it will be interesting to see if it stays there.
I had a similar thing with a site I launched earlier in the year. For the first couple of weeks it ranked really well, higher than the actual merchants pages for the same products as on the site.
However, after about 3 weeks, it suddenly dropped quite a way down the rankings.
I`ve read a lot about new sites being launched and initially being high in the rankings, but then soon dropping, with older sites and site with more incoming links being favoured.
I think this is a great idea. I make about £300-400 a month across about 6 sites but work damned hard updating them (some more than others) - it just supplements my main job.
Stu - I'm interested how you judge what is a niche cos I think I may have found a couple and am keen to try your experiment.
cheers
hey man i'm glad to help and i won't try and muscle in, i have plenty of my own to work with.

Interesting post Stu - like your style - just don't make it too easy for everyone else - a bit of hardship never hurt anyone![]()
