    Really cool post.

I suppose you already know the trick that helps you find niches using wiki.

    I don't use Wiki myself.

I tend to find niches are everwhere i turn and i mean *everywhere*. They just about rule my life, can't get the flipping things out of my head!

Only thing that cures nichitis is a good 4 or five pints of rocket fuel.

    Good for you Stu,

I have also had success building affiliate landing pages which ranked well in Google in the past. Like you I found by sticking to simple rules making the pages clean and readable for the spiders and adhering to the algorithms the pages moved quickly to the top of the listings.

Sadly from making so many pages I have failed to keep up with them all and a few have started to move down the ranks

But all credit to you if your content is fresh and links are good and of course its a real niche im sure your ranking will last for time to come.

    Good luck

I love this post - you should change your name to "sniper"!

What are the main SEO techniques for achieving this?

    Thanks in advance

    Sniper! haha!

I can't give too much away as i don't wish to step on other niche marketers toes.

I have mentioned before now that i am in the process of making a video that explains it all in detail, which i intend to sell but i won't be advertising it on here (again ).

You are all welcome to read and partake in my blog.

I'm concious that this is now beginning to look like i'm thread spamming so please, no more questions directly on the forum - i'm on pm if you want my assistance.

    Cheers for understanding

You're not giving too many secrets away so don't worry. What you have revealed is very obvious with a little analysis and is extremely important for people not accustomed to SEO.

The use of "contemporary vases" is a very generic term and search engines love generic terms because a consumer browsing for contemporary vases will go to a site called contemporary vases dot com or dot co dot uk because the search engines list generic names frequently and with good ranking provided the content is relevant.

You have relevant content pertaining to the niche, a name that corresponds with the niche and with some optimisation I fully expect the site to stay in the top rankings for some time to come. It'll dip occasionally but come bouncing back because it is relevant.

It's why many of the best domain names are generic names. Harder to get hold of but worth holding on to when you get them.

So basically we're looking for a generic niche - or a niche of a generic area.

    So we could go with

    vases
    bluevases
    modernvases
    glassvases
    crystalvases

I guess if the niche "takes off" you can always add additional pages to that URL.

    yes mate.

the niche and the domain are very obvious to anyone who takes a second to study it as the previous post says.

Thats the backbone of most niche sites.

This seems like an age ago now, but what i was actually referring to was how fast i got the domain listed:

9 hours to be spidered, 24 hours to number 3, 36 hours to number 1.

The whole post has gone off on a mad tangent.

9 hours to be spidered! That's what i'm happy with
