Yup, change your page title to 'recommended tradesmen' for starters.
That's both your niche and where your competition are

i have been trying to climb the infinite ladder of affiliate marketing for 7 years. i have tried everything from amazon to tradedoubler over several niches including hypnosis and alternative health. so far i have made a grand total of about £60 not enough by far to actually receive a check. this figure excludes adsense which works for me but only on one site and not on my blogs. so you tell me. who clicks these links in real life. i am starting to think theres a lot of talk and not much action. If you wonder if people click on affiliate sites at all, why are you in an affiliate forum? Surely you have answered your own question simply by being here?
i am left scratching my head.
debs
No offence debs but if I had made only £60 in 7 years I would have given up by now. People do click these links in real life, otherwise affiliating would not exist and there would not be as many successful people as there are.
don't forget to leave your account number, home address and mothers maiden name in clear view when you do![]()

This just brought up an interesting point for me. If you are a small time Affiliate and are using quite a few different programs, what happens if you had £60 with each for example? In theory you could have a few hundred quid owed to you but unable to get paid.
.......After thinking a little harder I think I may have answered my own question. Do affiliate networks lump all the payments together?
Please humour me, i'm new to all this!
Geoff
evry network works differently and have differing payout thresholds but i guess that situation can arrive fairly often.
The thing is though, if you can get to £60 for example, surely you can do more of the same to earn more money?
The trick is making 1 sale, once you have broken that barrier in your mind, your confidence will baloon and so will your earnings.

The situation I have in my mind is if I had a niche affiliate site (or a few) that just trickled in sales, and if these trickles are spread over a few different affiliates, cash flow could be pretty much non existant.
i follow you.
i try and use the same aff networks as much as possible to counter that problem. In the early days you might suffer from that problem but the idea with niche sites is numbers.
There are also lots of High value niche areas where one sale will break the threshold.
Try not to let it hold you back Geoff.

No it's not something that I'll let put me off, just something I was curious about. I've just identified myself a couple of possable niches this morning so might give them a go. I think i'm going to have to try looking into those dark arts of SEO!
