I've been following this thread for a while now and thought that I'd throw my two pennies in. If it's alright I'd like plug one of my own sites too that may help with the domain name research.
Having the right domain name is very important but more important in Googles eyes is the age of the domain. For some reason, Google trusts older domains more than new ones, a fact I've proved by moving content from a new domain to an older one. After the change, the site on the older domain ranked much higher for the same keywords.
But how do you find old domains ? I've recently put together a site (yup, it's an affiliate site) which finds old domain names that the original owner has let expire. Many of these have no pre-existing backlinks or history but some do.
By buying a domain that was first registered and hosted several years ago you're going to have an advantage over a brand new domain. If it's got inbound links already from other sites, so much the better.
The sites only been running about 10 days but there are already more than 6,000 expired domains in the system, all of which are searchable by keyword.
The domain ? Unwanted-Domain-Names.co.uk
I'm fairly new to this affiliate marketing lark, so any comments/suggestions/criticism will be greatly appreciated.
Nice site Pidea
Id say the business model is flawed though - almost anyone who uses they site will have a preferred domain registrar already where they keep ALL their domains - they wont want to use your suggestion. I just used it and bought a domain with 40 backlinks - used 123-reg though sorry as it was just too messy for me to use anyone else.
I think the value of this might be either just for getting links to it, which you can then pass to more commercial sites, or maybe a sibscription model (maybe free but email required) where you have some searches for free after which you need to be a member. Maybe there are other searches you could offer too - like sites with lots of links which coluld be for members only
Can i just point out that i'm back at number 1 today as promised![]()
Both on Google.com AND Google.co.uk.
For those that followed this thread from the off, you will see the slight changes i made to the code, visible on the Google listing.
And no, i didn't shake a magic lantern or black hat or whatever else it is i will be accused of today.![]()

Glad you found it useful anthony. I was thinking the very same thing as you whilst taking my little boy to nursery and so will code up something that'll address your ideas later today.
What kind of earnings have you so far (from the same website)... just an approx idea to support the fact that you are getting the benefit to be on top in google.

Highly impressive Stu, and also a very nicely designed website.
Any chance of sharing your seo secrets?
Interesting thread Stu.
That said, there should be nothing new here for any half decent affiliate. You have created a site for a very specific niche, I would have presumed the majority of members on here had done that many times already.
However, a simple article on an exisiting powerful site will achieve exactly the same results.
For examle, if someone like Jason at Loquax was to write an article or a page based on your keyword, I am certain he would knock you off the top spot. The great thing is that instead of having to buy a domain, create a template, add 10 pages of content, add the meta info, build a few links, edit the code etc.... he could just knock one up in 5 minutes and be done with it.
As for the 9 hours to get spidered... I have a few friends who dabble in the arts of blackhat SEO, and 9 hours is at best average these days.
Interesting thread, but I am amazed that there is any new information for any of the members on here.
I don't do black hat seo mate so 9 hours is better than average.
if your mates want to get themselves banned, that's their bag.
I mentioned at the begining of the thread that it would stay at number 1 until somebody else came along and knocked it off top spot so again, you are stating nothing that hasn't already been stated.
I also mentioned on my blog that i submitted articles.
So that actually means that ALL your points have already been well covered.
When i began this thread, it was simply to try and build some confidence in those starting out.
If you read it, you will see for yourself.
Any other knockers and kickers want to try and cut me down for absolutely no reason?![]()

Sorry Stu, I wasn't trying to knock you.
If it is a thread aimed at the newbies, then all my points are invalid, as they are unlikely to own powerful sites to create articles on.
That is not what I was saying, but I think all the points on this thread have been covered many times over. But if it is inspiring people, then that is great news.I also mentioned on my blog that i submitted articles.
So that actually means that ALL your points have already been well covered.
I will leave you to it Stu. Keep up the good work.
Yeah it's cool mate.
just a bit fed up that people are coming on here to try and knock me.
I'm a nice guy, i enjoy what i do and it still excites me to know that others are eager to learn.
Cheers for the reply![]()
