Catching Trends BEFORE they are hot

Morning all.

Having your finger on the pulse can really boost your online profitability.

Take yesterday for example; Google announced to the world that their personalised homepage will be now called iGoogle.

I read this and checked out the new site, paying particular attention to the iGoogle gadgets page (have a look).

Now Google slipped this news out, no major PR or anything like that.

Knowing Googles track record for taking anything and turning it into a behemoth, i got to thinking how their free service could make me money.

The result is that yesterday, as Google was breaking the news, i was purchasing - igooglegadgets.co.uk

I have plans for a blog or a forum, i'm sure you can work the rest out.

I haven't checked availability today but if you fancy a punt yourself, you can do much worse than buying an iGoogle related domain name

Only potential snag I can see is that Google (and probably iGoogle) are trademarked by Google.....

Not a snag in my eyes

The term igooglegadgets is not trademarked as far as i can see and to be honest, i'm not sure they would particularly bothered as i am about to promote their services.

You never know though, i'll keep an eye out for the writ just in case

Yup, given Nominet's normal stance and T's and C's, I doubt they let you keep it if Google came along and demanded it. That being said, I myself had a domain for two years with the word Google in it, even run AdSense off it - never got any hassle.
