I think you'll need to elaborate on what you mean by 'effective'. If you're just looking for alternatives in which you can incorporate affiliate marketing then email, seo, incentive, cashback, loyalty are just a few that come to mind but these should all be pretty obvious.

Apologies, bad day and didn't notice your post count. My bad. In reccompence:

1. Link exchange - Almost pointless these days, unless you're exchanging with sites with a far higher level of authority
2. Article submission - Well worth doing, use content links as well as signatures if you can get away with, keep topic current and find a new angle
3. Forum advertising (posting and not signatures) - As long as your service matches the audience this is effective, if done wrong in the wrong places it can be devestating.
4. SEO friendly directories submission - Probably the best low-hanging fruit for starters.

anyway, thanks for the above info.... I am using all my time online doing directories submission for my other sites and I hope I will get better result after a month or 2... I am also thinking of doing a paid content advertising.

I would say SEO as it's free and sustainable (until they change a line of code in the algo :eek: ). Problem is... if you are starting from stratch with no budget, it takes a LLLLOOOONNNNNGGG time to get anywhere.
