Today's Shop Window API Calls Nearing 10000 Quota Limit !

It's going a bit hectic in the last few hours , api call wise , on my Shopwindow Quota .

What alerted me was an automated email from AW that 10% left , and to arrange a top up with affiliatewindow .

Any ideas what could be causing this ? I (hope) assume GOogle , but it seems a very heavy crawl ? I have normally low traffic at the moment on this newish site , should be circa less than 100 api calls used today not 10,000!

Slightly concerned at bandwidth implications ... do the feed pictures etc get attributed to my hosting account ? trouble is i don't have access to my 1&1hosting account at moment so can't check stats , but do have google analytics , but that's not available 'til tomorrow .

Looks like api calls left will reach 0 pretty soon and then become deactivated (so all the indexed pages , assuming google bot are indexing , will all disappear).

Could be a SE bot.
Have you checked your latest visitor log?

Hi Darrat (as i often do i updated previous post as you were writing) . Will be checking analytics tomorrow (don't have access to visitor logs at moment as sold 1 of my other sites and temporarily transferred over the hosting with it).

I also have Google adsense on the shopwindow pages and so far impressions in the Adsense report has not jumped proprtionately - would they be going up 10,000 (ish) too with an SE bot ? or does Adsense only show real UV hits ?

Mysteriously jumped back up to only 250 apis used . (Do afiliate window filter the Bot impressions out later on ?) Any way probelm solved now .

I think I read that the daily quota is reset at 17:00

If you put in a request with awin they will up your limit.
How are you finding conversions? Mine was very, very poor with good traffic.

Hi Darrat, I have just put in a request with AffiliateWindow . I haven't yet had a chance to pass any volume of paid traffic through so can't answer that , but would say i have never had much luck with bog standard banners or feeds - (my cashback site converted but that was because of the incentive). But the ShopWIndow is better than my own attempt at a shopping comparison type site , ie: better navigation , and better display so will atleast give it a try on PPC, but it is already done by big sites like Kelkoo and PriceRunner etc so i expect most people will use them for price comparisons , although could work for niche terms - though finding 1000s of niche keyword that will generate any decent traffic is impossible these days , name any long phrase "long haired lover from Liverpool" i bet that has a whole page of bidders .... Sorry to hear it didn't convert too well with your traffic , was that google PPC ? I was just trying out direct to merchant traffic the other day , and thought i had it worked out then found google started penalising me on landing page quality on the merchant end .
