    Hi,

After many years of promising to start a blog to accompany my ecommerce site I have finally decided to do it within the next fortnight using Wordpress.

Can anyone recommend any tips, plug-ins, templates or anything else to get the best out of Wordpress. I would like it to be optimised for Google and try and get the best rankings out of my postings.

    Thanks

    Take a look at:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Search_En..._for_Wordpress

Which will help you out. Basically the main things you need to do are:

    1) Turn on Permalinks in the wordpress config to create nice static URL's for the search engines.

    2) Create a Robots.txt file to make sure that your content can only be reached by the search engines under 1 url, instead of different ones.

    3) Install a Meta Tags plugin to enable you to create your own Meta Description and Keywords for each article.

    4) Install the Google Sitemaps plugin, to have a new google sitemap automatically created each time you add content.

    5) Add new addresses of feed services, so that they are all notified when you add new content.

Thats the basics, wordpress is quite good for SEO from the start. All the above is covered in the article under the link given.
