Question Non-UK Network for a UK Affiliate Program?

Gang,

I need an advice, please.

I have two affiliate programs to start in the UK (for UK merchants).

Would getting them up on ShareASale be deemed a disadvantage? Should I rather go with a trustworthy UK network if I want to get proper affiliate attention? Or would you not care?

Would appreciate your comments in this thread + votes in the poll to complement the feedback.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Geno

Re: Non-UK Network for a UK Affiliate Program?

I think it has to be a UK network. As much as Shareasale have a great reputation many UK affiliates won't be signed up and won't want to be paid in dollars so for me a UK network would be the only way.

p.s. Really sorry I haven't emailed back yet - will do it soon!

I'd say a UK network too.

Thanks, and looking forward to more votes (and comments, if anyone has anything else to add to what has already been laconically expressed above).

We also notice not many UK affiliates will join our program on shareasale. From all other countries, they will (France, Holland, Singapore,...)

Cool Re: Non-UK Network for a UK Affiliate Program?

Agree, you will have to work with a local UK network althought a few US network are implementing themselves in the UK.
Tradedoubler, Buy.at, CJ, Affiliatewindow, AffiliateFuture, Webgains, Cleverat, Paidonresults, Afform, Silvertap, DGM, OMG, Zmirage etc, I count almost 15 affiliate networks in the UK. Any other I forgot ?
The choice depends notably on what the merchant activity is and what kind of commission model you will run.
If you are a merchant with a large product feed, you will need to optimize your product feed with a network that can support this, e.g. Tradedoubler.
If you are in a very specific industry there are a few second tier networks that have more potential than the big names because of their current merchants.
If you are planning to run an hybrid commission campaign and categorize your affiliate according to their conversion rates, you will have to work with networks having an interface allowing this.
If you have large ambitions and plan to open with more than one network, you will have to plan your negotiation carefully (negotiate first with a small network? one of the leaders? will they accept my campaign if I launch it with them afterwards ?)
If ...if... if... the best is that you contact an expert in Affiliate Management that knows about this market : me
Well Geno, we already know each other and I could have sent you an email, I'm just advertising for others

Thanks, everyone. Very helpful... Keep those votes coming in.

I'll look around the UK over the next few days and pick a network to go with.

KGP, if you have any first-hand affiliate experience with P. & C., please e-mail me your feedback on these. I would highly appreciate it, mate. BTW, I'm in Rhodes again (till 20 June). Nice weather today!

Hi Geno

How's Russian Legacy getting on? Bob (Donk) mentioned he wrote that script for you.

I'd have to go with the rest here and say you do need to sign with a UK based network.

Re: Non-UK Network for a UK Affiliate Program?

I voted UK. That is the best option. I have seen only a few UK affiliate programs listing in ShareASale. If you want to get your affiliate program out to the UK affiliates that are likely to promote your program then I think a US network is the wrong thing to use.

Sales have slowed down a little due to the summer, but should pick up nicely in a few months (starting from September)... I've actually never has a chance to use that script. Why are you asking? If you have ideas on how to collaborate, PM or e-mail me, John. I'm always open to consider new ideas.
