    Hi freetimer,

I`m getting a click through rate of 2.19%. There is a good reason for this though :-)

I`m using ad's on my site which promote a service, but i`m telling people how to do things themselves. As a result very few need the service, but a couple still go for it, so it worth having the ad's there.

Unfortunately its in a field which only 1 merchant caters for.

LOL - that depends on many factors such as market and top cpc etc, a better way to look at it would be say if I earnt £1 per site per day which is pretty easy to do, you would obviously earn £100 per day / £36,500 per year

I'm getting 14p-78p per click this month, and pretty consistently the little niches work the best so I'm finding it better to have more little sites than to try to get a couple of huge ones.

The top spots are really weird, not ones I'd expect huge CPC's in, no finance or class lawsuits like the gurus claim, but I'm finding some really good stuff in local services at the moment.

I have just started using Adsense on my Million Pound Lake site.

Since I started using Adsense, Million Pound Lake has gone from page 7 to page 1 on the Google search for 'Million Pound Lake'. I am getting more traffic from Google too!

    Is it a coincidence?

Coincidence, i'm doubtful. At the end of the day we have to remember that Google like to make money. They aren't going to make too much money from you on page 7.

I often wonder this but have never really tested it. Maybe i will.

EDIT: although having read what term you rank for, i would say on this occassion you were 99% likely to hit first page anyway.

I wouldn't consider myself an expert on Adsense but we have used it on a couple of our sites for a few years (finance focused) and I know that with just a little bit of work it would be possible to earn a good living from Adsense - I think the main key though as others have touched on is not to use Adsense as the core revenue generator.

Stats for one of our sites since May 05 are below, as you can see without a huge amount of traffic reasonable returns are realistic - just depends on the market I suppose:

    Page impressions 363,355
    Clicks 69,327
    Page CTR 19.08%
    Page eCPM [?] US$352.82
    Earnings US$128,199.22

Looking back at all the data CTR and EPM has been pretty steady on this site since '05

If nothing else I hope that might be some inspiration to goosegreen and others!

    Cheers
    Steve Jennings

I use adsense on a few neglected sites where there are no affiliate programmes running. Over time it can add up to quite a bit of extra cash. Here are my stats for this year.

    Page impressions 526,039
    Clicks 113,531
    Page CTR 21.58%
    Page eCPM [?] US$13.73
    Earnings US$7,221.17

That particular site was all organic and Adsense was not the core earner on there anyway so it's all incremental revenue really - the site in question was for the Provident loan program on AWIN

Not sure if all posters are above are aware but as far as I know it is against the Adsense TOS to share specific CTR / Revenue data - just a thought for those that didn't know

To answer the question, a quick look at my figures shows it varies from $50 through to $250 per 500 - all depends on the content.

I've been quite impressed with Adsense lately. One one niche site it is outperforming affiliate commission. It certainly does help to be niche. And I think it is better to not go over the top with where you put it. Nothing turns off a visitor more than arriving on a page full of Google ads. But if you put it a nice place then it is give the user the option of visiting relevant websites and they appreciate that (well, i hope they do!)..
