  Inactive Keywords.

Just come home this evening to see one of my adwords campaigns turn from keywords being great to inactive with a silly price to activate them.

The campaign has been running since March.

Is this another accident that we have had in the past or has google big brother not been kind?

I have emailed google help centre but wondered if this was happening on mass?

Not sure if it's a system error or Google doing another so called Quality Score update!

One of the sites it's nuked for me has loads of original content etc etc! So not sure why it thinks it's cr*p!

Yeah it might be the QS algorithm.

  Re: Inactive Keywords.

Noticed that one of my domains had suffered this morning. All bids now at £5 minimum.
Even keywords with over 20% CTR. It simply says the keyword is not relevant. Even though I am advertising 'widget abc' and the keyword is 'widget abc' and it goes to a page displaying 'widget abc'
Strange thing is an exact same product on another website I own hasn't been affected.
Looks like another google adwords re-ajustment.
Lots of work to do now then.

Sorry to read that mate.
Try to adjust the content on the "widget abc" page and make google realize that you really mean to target "widget abc".
I know that many people had the same problem with Adword today.

  Re: Inactive Keywords.

Yeah, google are using the 'score rating' excuse to get more money out of ppl. They did that to me recently and considering i've spent the best part of £20k with them in a year i can't beleive my score rating is low enough for them to want to charge me £1/click for a keyword no one else is bidding on! Very annoying!

  Re: Inactive Keywords.

Just had a quick look around the Google results & notice a site bidding on a well known search term. Problem is this ad goes to a page that just lists Overture search results.

Now that is real quailty!

Really think Google needs to do another QS check

  Re: Inactive Keywords.

There's been a "minor" adwords quality score update overnight. I've just posted on my blog about it and said that I didn't know if the UK was affected. Guess that answers my question!!

Check out the Digital Point and WMW threads to find some solace in knowing you are not alone.

I thought we'd seen the last of landing page algo updates for a wee while, but I guess Google didn't clean up all the activity it was targeting last time and has adjusted the algo to suit.

  Re: Inactive Keywords.

I know some of my affected ads to be honest lacked some of the standard they should have been at so need to get on and finally get them how they should be looking (like I've meaning to for ages). Anyway, once done anyone any idea how long/how to get them re-valued again?

Cheers

  Re: Inactive Keywords.

I've read somewhere that the landing page bot visits about once a month.

I didn't want to wait that long when I was re-doing some of my landing pages, and just went out and got another domain to put them on. They went straight up without a hitch, and have stayed up for the last 3 months.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Kirsty, I have some decent domains that I've been using so reluctant to just move everything onto new domains, although that could be a good short-term measure while I wiat for the others to be re-scored. Only problem then could be 2 sites with the same content, hmm!

Cheers
