We have today added the option for users to vote on the quality of posts from fellow members of the community.
The affiliates4u.com user reputation system provides a way of rating users based on the quality of their posts. Users on the forum can add or subtract reputation points from other users by clicking the reputation link in their posts.
The reputation platform allows users in the community to tell us and other members which users post in a quality, constructive and thought provoking manner, and likewise which members you should perhaps take less seriously.
You will see when you post two new images, firsty a green dot' the more dots you have the greater your reputation as deemed by the community.
- Click to give / subtract reputation
- The more dots you have, the greater your reputation
To give another member 'reputation points' click the scales icon which can be seen on the top right of each individual post - you can also use the same button to detract reputation points from that member.

Nice idea Matt - will be good to give the newbies more of a guide to who is worth listening to!![]()
Hi Matt,
Like the idea here - could prove very useful.
However - one small drawback (and I'm guessing you've already thought of this) - but there have been certain members in the past - (naming no names of course) - who loved belittling other members, or being overtly / unnecessarily critical.
Would this sort of thing pose a risk to some people's reputations on the forum? - is there a limit to how much one person can add/subtract from another?
...not that I'm paranoid!![]()

love the idea, will be useful when people help you or give good advice as i mean you can pm saying thank you, or reply, but thats temporary and doesnt show in other threads or in the reputation but now it will if we rate them

Hi Sean,
Some good points raised.
The reputation algo works by providing reputation points with a certain multiplier, however some users can give more reputation points that others, for example.
- Users who are more active on the forum (posts)
- Members with an older registration date (over 1 year)
- Members who have a high reputation themselves
In addition members must have 5 posts before their input is considered.
One member can not continually subtract from another - a member must provide reputation feedback for at least 20 other members before they can hit the same person again.
Hope that helps.
Thanks Matt
Just thought I'd double check - should have know you'd have thought of all this!

Drat - there goes the fun I was going to have this afternoon
But seriously - will be interesting to see how this develops, never been a huge fan of the reputation systems as it can tend to inflate some users egos, but fingers crossed that there will be none of that here.

pretty impressive that the reputation stands differently from older people (well on the board) and posts etc, really good idea
Erm can this be back dated![]()
If so bugger![]()
I'm not the Messiah!![]()
I say You are, Lord, and I should know. I've followed a few.
Nice one Matt, I've seen this work well on other forums. I know people will worry that this system can be abused but as there are such a large number of active users on this forum now I think it will provide a balanced perspective overall.

I see you started off on 2 points then Matt!
Simon's right - Keith Budden needs to start off on at least 50.......
hey so I did! - I've reset it now![]()
Yeah nice touch Matt. A US forum implemented the same system and that works well - they seem to get a lot of newbies posting, but the more respected members' posts stand out more.
I have always wondered why this wasn't a feature on this forum already as its a standard module with VB. Should work well.
Now we need a points system where we earn points for contributing to the forum and have a chance to alter our profiles ect..
Lots of mods out there to add some nice touches to forums like this![]()
PS: Have a PR7 site, want a link on homepage for rep points?![]()
