I am considering employing somebody to help with the mass of ideas I keep adding to.
But I am a little concerned that they might decide to copy my formula and set up on their own at a later date.
I am also usure whether they should receive a salary or if it is possible to pay them a percentage (say 50%) of the sites income that they have created.
I would welcome any response from those who have had to deal with this problem.

    regards,
    Paul

Revenue share works best if your budget is modest. At the same time you should specify whether the person on revenue share is permitted to expand their own interests.

You'll find it best to give them that leeway and allow them to do as they wish. The main benefit is you get great help for little or no outlay in return for a smaller proportion of profits. Ask yourself what's better. All of nothing or a little of something?

I wouldn't recommend revenue share at all, unless you find someone who complements your skills. That would make them a partner, not an employee.

I work with a partner. If we both agree that something is a good idea, we put our own expertise into it and share the profits, if any, down the middle. For the rest, we do our own thing, but always put the partnership ideas first in terms of time and effort spent - I guess that is an indication of where the revenue lies.
