google integrating youtube into serps ?

I was just surfing like you do.. and managed to stumble across the durex vibrations play ring like ummm anyone could on a rainy sunday afternoon... all innocent like

anyhooo.. 5th position screenshot of a youtube video.. can imagine the CTR on that compared to the other listings

then on next image it's at position 1 for a different term

I guess at the end of the day a youtube video is information and google is an information service, I assume this is just a test as usual with google but can imagine a few months ahead will some youtube content for many other products.

means one (at least) less slot for traditional seo too so competition will intesisfy there again.

might be time for affs and merchants to get creating videos to upload now

This has been happening for a while - ever since google introduced their "universal search" or whatever it's called.

Agree that it's time that affiliates try and target youtube, etc as another method of promotion.

I think it is dangerous times for Google. I am assuming they have testing universal search properly, or that it is a test in itself. On one hand, they are enhancing their search engine. On the other hand, they are filling it with cr&p that people don't necessarily want to see. If you want a video, then you'll search for a video I think.

It is time for yahoo, msn or ask to step up to the plate and really take on the battle properly.

not so sure about people searching for a video if they want to see one, the average surfer has all the intelligence and initiative of a sheep

in the ppc arena people seach for such vague search terms at times despite having an idea what they want

ie first they search for "jumper" but they actually have in mind a "beige mohair polo neck jumper" .. sure they will eventually what they want after clicking like 2 adwords and 4 serps listings and probably doing a refined search for "beige mohair jumper" etc.

so video .. whilst not ideal from our point of view as ppc, and serps addicts, could appeal for product demos, resort locations, fasion, etc.

have to admit that if I want to buy something electronic and need to see a review of it then the first place I look is youtube - written reviews are good but you can't beat a video review to see all the features (nearly bought myself a nokia n95 after seeing a vid yesterday)
