Hi All,
I've pulled together a blog post which I think you will find interesting its, The top 30 UK Affiliate Marketing Websites according to their Alexa ranking.
Jason over at One Little Duck has followed my lead and done a similar exercise but used Technorati ranking instead, its worth a read too. Top 30 UK Affiliate Marketing Blogs according to technorati rankings.
Julian.

You should retitle the thread "top 30 UK affiliate marketing websites that are listed on dfinitive.com"
cos it is pretty much a waste of space. doesn't tell us anything useful at all. sorry![]()
I was going to ask whether it was Digg or Sphinn they were targeting, but that would be cynical of me![]()

Stu i dont know whether you know or not but Sphinn is for SEO articles, so they wont be interested in a post about affiliate marketing sites, and a post about "top 30 uk affiliate marketing websites" is hardly good digg material. So yes i fully agree you are cynical.
Ahh Stellar, are you feeling a bit left out (being ranked 1,592,699 on Alexa), so you thought you would call my post "a waste of space", know need for that was there?
I know Alexa is not accurate, but is gives a rough guide.
Sour grapes?
Dude.
Let's get this clear before you end up making yourself look stupid.
You wrote it as linkbait, why else would you post about your post on this blog?
Take the joke in the manner it was intended, and don't patronise me. When people get upset in this manner it means somebody just hit the nail on the head, that someone would be me.
Nothing wrong with linkbait, why deny it?

Now now ladies.....![]()
Personally I think its a good post, and have left a comment saying likewise. I do however take Alexa with a pinch of salt.
IMHO the post is not a waste of space, and I am not saying this simply because my blog is listed there somewhere. Its a collection of the most visited affiliate industry reads that would be useful for a newbie to take a look at and pickup useful hints and tips.
What!
My point was, your list only includes websites that are on your directory. So having a title as "Top 30 UK Affiliate Marketing Websites" - which sounds really useful - is misleading, because it is not the top 30 uk affiliate sites at all.
So nothing to do with the Alexa rating (which, yes is also a waste of space and i couldn;t give a monkeys toss what my Alexa rating is, but that is another story all together).
Unless I'm mistaken pretty much every affiliate blog in the UK is in his directory - so it is accurate in that respect. Remember there aren't that many affiliate blogs out there.
Although I agree with others about Alexa, its nowhere near 100% accurate and you should never quote their figures as anything but a "guide" to reach. However that doesn't diminish the fact that Julian has put together something that is useful, and also a bit of fun.

OK fair enough if it is just about affiliate blogs. "Top 30 UK Affiliate Marketing Websites" makes it sound like all affiliate websites, not just blogs about affiliate marketing. Never mind.Unless I'm mistaken pretty much every affiliate blog in the UK is in his directory - so it is accurate in that respect. Remember there aren't that many affiliate blogs out there.
Thanks Frostie and Kieron for your comments.
The top 30 I listed does include several affiliate marketing "websites" e.g. Tradedoubler, Buy.at, etc. I’ts not just blogs.
Also it’s completely free to list sites in my site, so I didn't pick sites that have paid me money. I can assure you that none of the sites listed have paid me a penny, apart from a few of the affiliate networks, but that is for affiliate revenue I have generated which is nothing to do with dfinitive.com
Stu, I never denied that the post was a bit of link bait, I just pointed out that Digg and Sphinn were not suitable target sites.
I have to say that I thought it was quite interesting too, but I agree that Alexa rankings are 'rough' at best...

Their numbers seem to be picked out of a hat quite often. They only just started supporting firefox afaik... well I'd say most people in this market would be using firefox... if you're reading a blog about affiliate marketing you'll probably use firefox.
I think alexa should at least TRY to give an error margin. Saying you're ranked #30,151 is meaningless. It's impossible to be that acurate. They should say you're somewhere between #20,000 and #50,000. The real error margins might be far far more than that I think though.
BTW as a simple way to check, who here has the alexa toolbar installed?
not me.. (apparantly thats too short to post.. so.. blah blah blah)
