How do I track conversations using PPC I have no control on the "thank you" page
Hi
I have been building this site Budget Car Hire Egypt | Holiday in Egypt, Naama Bay Hotel Egypt using affilate products feeds
from alpha hotels rooms, when someone clicks on any of my hotels products links:
Five Star Hotel In Sharm El Sheikh | 5 Star Naama Bay Hotel Egypt
They get diverted to the merchants page. I have started to use PPC so I could track which keywords makes the coversion, Google gives conversion tracking code
to put on the "thank you page" after the client has paid, but in my situation
I can't put tracking code in the tracking page as I have no control over it as the merchant controls.
Q1. Has anyone had this issues and how have they overcome this?
Q2. Is there any other way to find out which keyword has made the sales
using travel links when you have no control of the "thank you page"
I also use google Analytics.
R

Did you ask the network / affiliate manager if they could ask the merchant to post your conversion code on their thank you page?
By posting your code, you'll be able to better run your PPC program, and therefore make yourself, the netowork, the AM, and the merchant more money. Everybody wins, so why wouldn't they?Eric

IMHO... merchants wont allow you to put the tracking code on the thank you page. Anyways can always give it a shot.
Let us know the status too...

I asked once and the code was posted within hours... maybe I was working with a nice merchant, though, that understands the importance of affiliates in their overall online sales structure.
There's one thing I'm 100% sure of: <a href="http://www.netnagel.com/2007/08/you-have-to-ask.html">your code won't get posted if you don't ask</a>

if you are using the in house software from alpharooms you can pass a tracking parameter of your choice (usually inserted by a script at the time of clickthrough). This could be the keyword the user comes in on or something else (such as the hotel name).
The sales on the inhouse at alpha show which hotel has been booked. So if your keyword (assuming you bid on a hotel name) variable matches the hotel that has been booked you have converted on that keyword. It could also convert on another hotel of course.
Hope that helps.

we have a script that logs referrer data in a database, and assigns an id to the user query, that id is passed along all pages with the user as he/she browses the site and then is passed on to the aff network as a sid (or whatever). With that data you can usually track back to keyword level for conversions and profitability data.
Does not take long if you know a bit of php or know someone who does.
Not 100% perfect but much better than nothing
