'Golog.net' - Affiliate To Watch Out For

Heads up, it seems that Golog are joining affiliate programs or may be sitting in your existing program (if you don't have strict management).

For those of you who have not come across golog, here is a link about their activity...Manage the DNS client cache in Windows 2000 Pro

You will have to make your own minds up whether you think this is spyware, adware or hybrid, personally I know what I think!

Cheers
Helen

They certainly don't look like one of the internet's good guys. What we need to know is whether any UK ISPs have signed deals with Golog and then stop promoting them or lobby them to stop.

I cant read French but I do recognise a few logos on their front page!! eeeek!

http:// golog.net

It certainly does not sound like 'normal' behaviour.

Yet another company abusing loopholes and making a packet before their technique is outlawed.

I've seen these popping up ina few programs I run - will certainly be looking further into it. It would be good to get comment from some networks on this kind of activity...

Great post Helen - it's well worth making people aware of this.

Also I read this week that Zango are planning to expand in the UK

Re: 'Golog.net' - Affiliate To Watch Out For

Zango have been quite active in Europe for a while - I've seen alot of Zango referrals come through one aff network in particular in the UK and most other European countries. All the programs I've worked on from the merchants side don't allow toolbar affiliates which we make very clear in the terms and we've generally been able to dig about in the logs to find out which affiliates are linked to zango etc, and remove them from the programs, although I've talked to merchants in the past who are happy to have these affiliates on their programs. Most networks seem to be against this sort of affiliate but not all so as a merchant you do have to keep an eye out.
