Just got this PM from the forum member CYBERBIRD1...

Hi Lee,

I am unhappy with the service I bought from you and do not want to see others taken advantage of. As you have not been able to show me that the service I bought is legitimate I will report your site to Google.

I will report it for offering paid links/articles/reviews/posts and I'm sure once Matt Cutts sees what you're doing he will want to take action. Take a look at How to report paid links

I will report you on Monday 8th October unless you have provided a suitable explanation of how revisitors.com are redirecting traffic. Alternatively I will be happy if you stop promoting their service or any other which you do not know is legit.

I will also post to the forum (and any other I find you are posting to) that I have reported your site to Google.

Speaking from the sidelines, he has only asked for an explanation, you can hardly call that blackmail ?

I have used revisitors.com in the past and have also found them awful (not through pagerank10), and I am guessing what Cyberbird1 is annoyed about, is that it appears that pagerank10 are highly recommending revisitors, just to possibly gain from being an affiliate. You would do yourself a favour by removing revisitors from your site anyway as they have a bad reputation and this will tar you with the same brush in my opinion.

Just my 2p mate

Yes it is blackmail, he stated in the pm that if i dont stop promoting revisitors.com then he will report our site to google for something that has nothing to do with the service he was unhappy with and post on every forum I post on what he is going to do.

If at the end of the dispute (which is not over by the way), I would have removed the links to revisitors.com if i found that what they are doing is wrong.. at the moment i have no proof to do such a thing.

There are millions of sites in google that are offering paid links/articles/reviews and posts so I wouldn't worry too much about the threats.

If it was that easy to get a site banned from google then everybody would be reporting their competitors (though it probably goes on)

Leeky do you actually own revisitors or are you just happen to advertise them on your site?

He actually said that all he wants is an explanation.

If you search google it brings up plenty of people complaining about revisitors - www.revisitors.com anyone try it out?? that is the 3rd result on google !

Do you really want to associate your well established and well run website with a company with a reputation like revisitors ? is it worth it for the affiliate percentage you receive ?

I know what I would do if it was me and my website

I do not own revisitors.com

I own
pagerank10.co.uk
affilaitescript.co.uk
whiterankers.com
3tags.co.uk

Im not worried about being reported, im just furious about being blackmailed into doing something i may have already done if i found that the company i was promoting is scamming, we have made them loads of sales and only ever had this one complaint, so why should i honestly believe they are ripping people off.

Every company has unhappy customers, if everyone made a snap judgement over 1 complaint then nobody would get promoted by anyone.

Re: Blackmailed by forum member CYBERBIRD1

I'm confused - Cyberbird1 starts by saying he is unhappy with a service provided by you and then says he wants you to explain how revisitors.com (which is not owned / operated by you and for which you are just an affiliate) work.

If I were you I would try to resolve whatever it is you have provided Cyberbird1 that they are unhappy with and then write them a polite email saying if they want to know how revisitors.com work then they should contact revisitors.com directly.

And if it is only the revisitors.com thing that Cyberbird1 has an issue with and you are simply an affiliate then for a member of this forum Cyberbird1 has a stunning lack of knowledge on where responsibility lies between affiliate and merchant.

I think Cyberbirds reaction is aimed at the wrong person. If someone was unhappy at the service / goods of a merchant I promoted, I would of course be grateful if they informed me so I could make a judgement as to whether or not to take that merchant down - however - it is by no means my fault if the merchant has not met the customers expectations.
Equally, if said customer made any form of threat which could harm my business unless I sorted out the problem for him - then yes, I think that is blackmail!!

Smingle - I undertsand what you're saying, but its not down to Leeky to provide the explanation, its down to revisitors.com.

Re: Blackmailed by forum member CYBERBIRD1

To be fair to Cyberbird1 I have now looked at the page on pagerank10 I can see how it could be construed that it is pagerank10 providing the service and not revisitors.com - while they do say towards the bottom of the page that the service is provided by revisitors.com this is a very long way down the page and prior to that all of the other text says 'We do this' 'we do that' - from which without reaching the bottom of the page you would get the impression that it was pagerank10 directly providing the service.

I think pagerank10 would be well advised to reword the page to make it more obvious they were not providing the service directly - had this been done then I don't personally think this issue would ever have arisen.

I have followed this on the other thread. The owners of revisitors.com have already offered a refund.

Leeky, don't worry. Those of us who have dealt with you know you are a good guy.
