I always put prices on!
I think the price is the one thing that all people take as the main factor when deciding to buy something.
If you don't put prices, they then have to click through to the merchants site to see if they can afford it. If its too much, then they have to go back to your site, and then try again with another product. I think they`ll soon get bored of going back and forth, and will go somewhere else that they don't have to do that.
I think its much better if people make the decision to buy something on your affiliate site. Then they go to the merchant site to buy it. This cuts down on time, and gives them less chance to change their mind![]()
I would not even consider not putting prices on a page.
I find it works better as well if you do some of price comparison with a couple of different merchants. A lot of people do a search around to find the best price for a product. If they think you`ve done that for them, then they are much more likely to buy, and not search around other sites which could possibly get the sale instead of yours.
You need to do everything you can to make the person by from you and keep them on your site. If they go somewhere else (other than the merchants site), theres a good chance you`ll lose the sale.
I find this works well, some of my sites get as little as 10 unique visitors a day. Although this sounds bad, 8 visitors will actually buy, so thats an 80% conversion rate. Of course im trying to up the number of visitors, but really happy with the conversions.
Selling is all about psychology rather than anything else. I think one of the hardest things (or the hardest thing for me) is realising that not everyone thinks the same way you do, and doing something which makes you think I`d never buy from this site can actually end up hooking a lot of other people!
They key is to try things out, leave them for a while and see what happens. If its an improvement you build on it, if it doesn't work you try something else. The most important thing is recording all your tests and results, so you don't end up repeating things, but more importantly if something fails badly and takes you from many sales to none, you obviously need to be able to go back to what you were doing.
