Hi,
I have a question about traffic to sites that I think may be wasted. For instance, my very first domain name of a new technique I tested was a 3 word generic domain name that I used as testing purposes, I created a 1 page landing page with Adsense ads on there.
The site quickly took off and has since been pulling in about 20-30, sometimes 40+ unique visitors per day. Rather than using adsense I wanted to find an affiliate to make use of this traffic to see if I could get a better ROI as the product(s) in general could sell well between £80-£120 mark.
However, I have struggled to find a source of affiliate merchant to point my traffic to and I think the ROI on adsense is very low, say 10 clicks per day at $2 per day commission, and the traffic is very targeted to this one particular product. The click conversion rates are pretty high, sometimes above 25% click through rate.
My question is, what would be a better alternative to Google Adsense if I could not find a supplier of these products?
I have not yet tested Amazon, though I hear also that their commissions are very low. Although their conversion rates could be high due to the trust n the Amazon name.
Maybe eBay? I know these products sell pretty well on eBay due to the lack of ecommerce sites that sell these hard to get products, usually I see 15+ bids on products all the time. Has anyone experience of the ROI on eBay for very targeted traffic?
I have also tried to dabble with the shopping.com API but a script I found is not very compatible and like a lot of amazon scripts that I have seen are very similar, hence maybe a dupe content penalisation which I
am not prepared to take the risk.
Now lets say I can create 10-20 of these sites, would they be worth pointing my traffic to eBay or would that be seen as a waste? Does anyone see good conversion results using eBay?
Or should I simply try to sell the domain + traffic to a merchant who stocks these products as the site has had a steady flow of traffic.
Am I making the most of my traffic?
TIA
Terry
