Plenty of firms of lawyers offer trademark searches and registration services. Many patent lawyers do as well. Unlike patents, you should be able to get a fixed (or more or less fixed) cost for registration.
The last time I got a trademark was about 10 years ago, but as I understand it, using TM does not mean something is trademarked in the UK. 'R' does; ie. 'R' means registered trademark. TM means someone is making sure that their intention to use something as a trademark is in the public domain. If someone else starts using the same name as you and putting TM by it before you do, they could stake a claim to it.
I'd Google it if I were you, before phoning a few local legal firms. The big ones used to all have departments dealing in trademark stuff.
