Radio 2 - Making Money Online & Cashback Websites

I don't know if anyone listens to radio 2 - but Jeremy Vine will be talking about 'Making Money Online' today sometime between noon and 2pm.

The most interesting part was when he said that his site had been down for four days due to a DDOS attack.

Loved the way he dodged the question on how much revenue moneysavingexpert made as well.....but good to hear him say he only used 'ethical affiliate links' - must the first time I've heard affiliate links mentioned in a mainstream radio broadcast.

Was mainly about cashback...although he did mention Direct Line who I believe aren't on cashback sites now?

Users should visit Kelkoo etc daily for free money (which I believe is not the right way to push cashback sites)

Users can sign up to get a bank account deposit £1, get £25 and close their account (not good either)

He then says that ads on websites earn the site money, but instead of going through them you can earn cashback.... although later on he tells a onemanandhisvan site owner that he can cash via google adsense and affiliate marketing.

Bit about drop shipping, mentions eBay... usual stuff.

Whilst there's no doubt he does do some good stuff for the consumer - and I guess exposing loopholes is the only way they're plugged - I did find myself shouting at the radio quite a lot... probably from the viewpoint of a siteowner who provides a free service and utilises "ethical affiliate marketing" (as Martin says he does) and wishes cashback perhaps wasn't promoted in such a "you can grab free money" manner.

I think the basis of the MSE site is that the consumer is king and they come before anything. In line with this they would look to find any ways in which the consumer can benefit - which often can mean finding loopholes and " free money" which it would seem could be detrimental to the merchant. MSE are proud of this stance as what they terms as "consumer revenge"

According to the blurb on the site all the content is written first and if the respective links can be found they are added but if they cant the article remains the same
