Wiped out one of my sites so PPC is now £5 per bid (it was a poor site granted)

Several other sites have bids almost doubled to 25p

I was just thinking I had got organised well for Christmas this year too.

Looks like a long few nights coming up.

PS. A friend was also wiped out. Anybody else noticed anything?

    Not for me.

That said I've been slapped on some sites in two "waves" over the last few months. The sites that were slapped in both waves had all been put up at similar times... so I'm not sure if sites are manually checked after a few months or what.

Guess you do have a bit of work to do, but it's not all that hard to bring your sites up to scratch (bad time of year to be doing it though!)

Yeah one of mine got slapped today, only been backup two months on new domain since the last slap and its a decent site. Makes me wonder if my host has been tagged.

How can anyone begin to build a brand though like this, basically they are saying you need a load of trash throwaway domains to stay in the game as they don't divulge how you should fix. I can't wait for google to see some hard times come there way.

have a think about what type of ppc account you are running.....arbitrage? think about how you log into your account? What billing information do you use? Are you using previously slapped accounts on new domains? Are you thumping a lot of spend thru an account in a short period of time? Are you trying to run really large adwords accounts with loads of groups all for the same URL?

    lots to think about huh?

Nah the accounts not slapped, just the domain, I have other sites in there inc the one in my sig which are fine.

The site is not search arbing ( and I see plenty of those in adwords ) rather its lead gen data capture but it has all the usual extras like original ontopic articles, privacy, widgets, t&c etc.

Also the lead gen part has no obvious affiliate connection, as I capture the data to my own db I don't need to use affiliate links.

Some pages had some sponsored links on them but clearly marked above the article and not ten to a page so in other words not arbitrage

If ads are the cause are they really saying don't have ANY ads on your page no matter how good your read. If thats the case why are there still so many ppc search sites in adwds and the ad sites remain and my content/lead site gets nailed? I don't believe a few ads tripped it.

I can swap the domain with a new one but its just a big pita

    Hi Riddys

No slap here. It doesn't seem to be like the old Days Of Slap any more here though. When I get slapped, it's rarely the same time as others. And when I read of other slaps, my accounts seem fine.

Anyway, you shouldn't be trying to make money on google. The shame of it!

I was google slapped last night on my Christmas Toy site of all things

I have been running ppc since september and all bids are now £5.

What is more worrying is that all my affiliate links were masked by jump scripts so this shouldn't of happened!!

No toy sales for me this year

Thanks Kirsty I will give you a shout tonight as at work

Would disallowing the jump.php script in the robots.txt stop google looking at them, and if so how would I do it?

There is a way to do that, but it doesn't seem to stop the old Google slap catching up with you at exactly the same time as everyone else!

I would robots.txt your redirect scripts and also consider there is a thought that although G maybe not able to tell what your jump script is they may look for patterns that suggest redirect scripts or aff links are being used.

For example a page that only has ten links to a file called click.php might flag your page as a serp page or as a feed site even though click.php is a file on your own site.

I think Google know that its hard for them to always identify where feed and aff links have been hidden so instead they look for patterns in design, patterns in linking all that sort of stuff.

That said if you read the rest of this thread you will see that my own lead gen site got whipped, no aff links or feeds in sight there. Google are really just encouraging people to adopt throwaway domains as its the only quick way to get back in.

Don't take it personally - it doesn't mean your site sucks at all, any serious marketeer knows that quality score is a big scam and the public tide of opinion will turn against google in the end, albeit slowly (show me an empire that lasts for ever.)

The other ppcs know they need to treat their advertisers and affiliates with more respect to gain market share, unfortunately g has so much cash and resources they now think showing respect is entirely optional and that hopefully will be their undoing.
