I just stumbled upon this on facebook this morning

    Facebook | Facebook Pages

You can now set up your own pages, I think this has potential as you can write application for your pages, which you cant currently do with groups i believe.

Thing is will people be in buying mode when using facebook

Personally I think it sounds like a great idea. Facebook ads are, in my view, a poor idea because users aren't interested in ads whilst they're interacting. But a business page - people will interact with it. A lot of businesses used MySpace, some better than others. I'm a fan of a MySpace page by a tshirt company which had YouTube videos and more interactive, interesting content than call-to-actions or selling stuff. I reckon these Facebook pages could go down quite well, and I definitely reckon they're more cost-effective than Facebook ads. It would just need someone creative to control the content and make it enjoyable and interactive to really succeed.

Great little stumble Purple! This is the kind of thing I hoped Facebook would do and it looks like they read my mind. I've always felt that on social networking sites you're going to get the most of them by interacting with visitors as opposed to just buying adverts.

I'm going to set up a couple of pages today for different projects and see how they fare!

It is very myspace, I have already got decent size groups on facebook, but as I could not add applications it was more limited. Facebook Pages could have huge potential.
