I don't understand them tbh but I had the same thing happen. Anyway, I accepted the last one that I got and it was basically just an exact verbatum copy of my post??
No wiser really?
I'm not quite sure how Pingbacks work in Wordpres. I've had a couple of them now and actually deleted the first one because I didn't want a long list of what could look like spammy comments under my content pages.
Should I leave them there though? What happens if I delete them? Does it hinder my SEO?
In case it helps, you can see what I mean at the bottom of this page:

A trackback or pingback in theory means that if someone writes a blog post which links to a post you've written you get informed of it and a can post a link back to their blog. The link back will appear with a brief excerpt of their post.
Unfortunately, like everything else, it gets abused by spammers to generate backlinks to their v14gr4 sites.
Fortunately, Wordpress has the Akismet plugin which will catch 99% of spam comments and trackbacks. It's preinstalled you just need to get an API key from here : API Keys « WordPress.com
I think it's worth having trackbacks setup as it's good for community and link building same as comments.
MortimerJazz : Your trackback on the page you gave is because you have an internal link back to that page
Fizzbird : Yours is probably a spammer taking your whole post from your RSS feed to build a Made For Adsense site.

Akismet usually stops a huge part of SPAM but a week ago I tried
Defensio which is Akismet alternative and
it looks that it works even better (and also I can't
see any limits to use it on commercial blogs). Give it a try and you
will block at least 70-80% of the SPAM comments![]()
I deleted the trackback comments for the same reason - they are replications of my article, what I did notice however is that the inbound link from where my link was placed still remains, so I guess what happened (now, I'm no SEO expert) is that another site has given me a push by having a link to me on their site, but i haven't made a reciprocal link back to them because I've not used the track back. Presumably this is good for SEO?
