Just to inform people on here who don't always check their emails

You can add Phoneboxdirect and Coolnewmobile to that as well.
Don't know if they are related, cos don't do any mobile stuff, but always check the ownership of sites we are promoting - surprising how many are linked in some way. Some sort of market positioning I guess. Not good experiences with them - had quite a few sales through various SatNav / In Car merchants a couple of years ago and now they've all disappeared. Discovered afterwards they were related.

Phonebox Direct, Cool New Mobile and Phones2YourDoor are all connected. They operate(d) under the names Mobile Affiliates Ltd and Mobile Media Systems Ltd. They've only just relaunched the coolnewmobile website and renamed 3mobilefones as Phones2YourDoor (although they used to operate under this name a while back). I just posted a link to Mobile Today: Phonebox Direct shuts shop on the coolnewmobile thread.

pretty bad news for mobile industry with these closing, also bad for me as ive got a site that heavily promotes these 3 merchants

Yep another victim of unrealistic cashbacks, and it's the customers and affiliates that get hurt!

In some ways it just goes to show that its difficult to dislodge an established brand, especially in a confused marketplace, when it comes to mobile domain names.

There must be a million combinations of 4u 2u phones online deal cheap etc. etc.

Oddly enough the proliferation of those domains plays into the hands of the big brands by confusing the market imo. So customers go for what they recognise.

Better to have an odd name and start that from scratch imo.

As someone posted on another thread, who would have paid anything other than a few pence for the word 'Google' ? True a lot of work involved in making it a success, but not easy to compete on name terms, at least not in bulk.

'monster' for jobs - you're joking. 'ebay' for auctions - why ? etc. etc.

Also way off-topic but if you want to build a recognisable brand online, Ithink its best to stay away from the nav. down the left, logos at the top cloned templates.
