yeah pages drop in and out all the time for me. There can be a bit of a mess in my pants some days, but pages normally return.

Does anyone else experience this ?
I have a site which has had over 100 pages of new content added over the last few weeks. These pages are being picked up every couple of days and being indexed, however I have noticed over the last few days that some pages have totally disappeared from googles listings ??

thanks barry ! I thought it was just me for a minute, but it is reassuring to hear that it doesnt just happen to me
Cheer mate
I`ve found getting things indexed is pretty slow at the moment, much longer than usual.
Also there seems to be a pattern at the moment:
Pages are indexed, and appear with good rankings
Pages then drop down the index to a much lower position
After 1 - 3 days, the pages move back up the index into a good position then stay there
Do a seach for something unique on the pages, its likely they are still in the index but buried somewhere, and should move back up in a couple of days.
Mind you I had a site banned by google on monday![]()
Still in googles index though on monday, but I submitted a reinclusion request anyway.
On tuesday the site was totally gone from googles index.
On wednesday, the site was back at its normal position and stayed there.
Theres a number of reasons why this happens, in addition to the ones mentioned above;
Duplicate Content goes to the Supplement Index
If you have had a spout of downtime when google was trying to crawl your website, it may de-index then re-index (usually takes 2-3 weeks)
smingle sir,
This happens aye.
I always give these pages a quick
text link from another well bot visited
site.
Don't know if thats what solves it.
But it gets solved pretty quick.

Care to share some details on why?
One of my sites has had some interesting stuff happening to it - can't tell why. 1st Page Rank dropped not once, but twice - first down to PR2 then down to PR0. Then, for a week and a bit, traffic shot up by nearly 200%. Now it's dropped back down to usual levels.
Annoying thing to happen, I don't understand it. I had bought some links for the site, but we're talking single figures and all from relative pages and sites - and I certainly don't sell links from the site. Worse still, other sites where I most certainly are selling links have gone up in PR whilst searches have stayed fairly level. It's a real pain to follow.
OK - Google Banning![]()
My site got banned because I use a single image as the header, with the name of the site on it eg Blue Widgets.
Because the Search Engines can't read the image, I stuck an H1 Tag with Blue Widgets in it under the image. Now, compared to some of the dodgy things I do occassionally, I did think this was perfectly legit, you're just providing alternate text for Google as it can't read the image. That was it on this site, there were no other "tricks"
First knew I was banned when I got 15 emails from google telling me so! Told me that the hidden text was not allowed and my site was not banned. I also had messages in my Webmaster Tools Account telling me so.
This is one very important thing to note for Webmasters. EVERYONE should have a Webmaster Tools account. Not only does it provide you extremely useful stats, but if your site gets banned etc, it gives google a way to contact you so you aren't left in the dark.
In the Google webmaster tools there is a link to submit your site for reinclusion. You have to (and i`m not kidding here!) click a box acknowledging your guilt, they have a block of text saying what a naughty boy ( or girl) you`ve been, and that you have deliberately and maliciously violated them by breaching their terms of service. You have to agree to this to move on.
You then have to fill in a box saying why you did, how you know you`ve been very very naughty, you give them permission to tell santa not to visit you this year, and what you`ve done to fix the problem. Interestingly, it says if you have an affiliate site your explanation as to why you did it needs to be much much better, and it will take a lot more consideration before they include your site.
I filled in the box, pleaded ignorance saying I didn't know it was not allowed (and this is actually true, I couldn't see the harm, its not like I put a load of keywords in, just the name of the site).
I got no reply from google, but my site only vanished from google for a single day (which was verified by doing site:bluewidgets.co.uk and having no pages returned). It was then back in google the day after that, which I was both suprised and pleased about.
However, I got no message from google this time telling me my site had been reincluded.
I thought it would be quite a long process, but it was amazingly quick!
If I hadn't of submitted a recinclusion request, the original message told me my site would be put back in the index after 60 days, providing the hidden text had gone. The next time it happens with the site, you get banned for longer, and it increases each time.
thanks for all your answers. This is really annoying me now. The site has even less indexed pages showing today ! almost 2/3 of the sites page are now gine from google !!!!!!!!
Hope it right's itself soon
If your pages are unique and content rich, they will be re-indexed, don't worry about it too much.
Ta
ye my sites disappeared from #1lets hope it reappears
I`m getting some really good results this week, several of my sites moving up in the rankings.
My site that got banned last week, is now number 2 worldwide for a competitive keyword![]()
Well its going to be their algo, as its all automated. Seen the pattern I posted though for the last 6 months. Time seems to have a bearing as well, once a sites 3 months old or so, it receives a bit of a boost - guess thats to thwart the up today, dead tomorrow spam sites. So google is fuc*ing arround with webmasters or they have very complicate indexing alghoritam.
All of my observations are strictly that, obviously nothing official, but I`ve launched a number of sites this year, and I just post what I see happening over time.
