Interesting. I heard about something like this the other day from someone. I put it down to googles methods in determining the sites index positions as it was a new site (<1 month). Is your site new? The guy I spoke too said it started to happen after adsense was initiated. I think it will sort itself out and im not sure there is anything you can do to speed it up. Maybe someone else has an idea. Im not convinced the sitemap is the problem though.

yeah i have and the index page is not showing up

i also forgot to say the site was orignally indexed 5 days ago and was the corrected page was showing up in google search, and last night i added the sitemap through google webmaster tools and that was why i assumed it might be the sitemap that cuased it to change today.

If the site is only indexed 5 days ago then do not worry about it as it will return, i know this from experience as it happens with alot of my sites :-)

The sitemap will not affect this at present so don't panic it is nothing to do with that.

    Google should renamed paitence.co.uk !

    Good luck anyway

My opinion is that Google are testing again, some of my sites are bouncing around a lot in the SERP's, however these are newish sites (1-2 months) and tend to fluctuate a lot anyway, but more so over the last few days.

Some are having far worse experiences, seeing most of they're website pages vanish altogether. I was reading on another forum how one guy lost 10,000+ pages and ended up with just 100 pages listed. This is all happening recently.

If it happens again then check the datacenters to see if they have your index page listed.

I get the feeling something is on the horizon from Google, and thats not always good I pray that I am wrong.

    Terry
