1000's Visitors not looking to buy anything

I've got a web page which gets around 500 uniques a day. The page is found for people looking for funny pictures, and so obviously don't really want to buy anything.

Whats best to optimise this ?

Apart from adsense, are there any pop up advertisers where I can get paid per pop up or something?

You could try some CPM banners, or join aff progs for RIngtones, Mobile Games, Zwinky, maybe some dating websites.

Have you tried adbrite rather than adsense?

I've never used it myself but think the adverts tend to be more suited to funny/unusual style websites than adsense may be as they tend to be more adult/joke related which may improve CTR.

We've got a couple of sites in exactly the same market and on those figures you're very unlikely to make any money from Adsense. Loads of page impressions, but very little in the way of money simply because the target audience is looking for the pics not the Adsense.

Zwinky sounds like a good idea as that's semi-interactive and presumably makes money somehow.

Daft cheap novelties on ebaY? If you can get clicks through to listings you should be able to make regular 10-20p commissions off impulse buys. Obviously it's never going to be earn a large amount and if your traffic is pretty diverse countrywise it wouldn't work.

Perhaps use the rest of the adspace to promote your more commercially successful sites rather than letting someone else have your space at any price.

I agree with Kier here re email list - and would even go one further -offer them something yourself to build up your email list / community - build a forum where you promise more / funnier / premium content (and user generated) - build it around news / gossip of the photo's concerned (if they are famous) - cellerbity -a - likes if not and go for some tenancy / premium CPM adverts when you have enough - it also sounds like one site that would do very well from / see a quick uplift in traffic from SMO / facebook traffic if you can build some quirky groups - seems like with your content you have linkbait on a plate .....

Free emoticon and screensaver downloads. They don't pay alot, but quite a few download them because they're free.

How about NetAudioAds? Get paid for every visitor for having a short audio clip play onload.

Hey Max, theres a good campaign on affiliate future to converts every 4 of five clicks. and free screensaver on z-mirage
