Absolutely. I would love Argos to be available on an alternative.

If Argos was on another network, and this alternative network was one that you preferred doing business with even though the commissions remained the same.
Would you be inclined promote them more on an alternative preferred network than their current existing network?
I realise this could extend to any number of programs, but lets take Argos as an example.

The answers a yes for me!
Although i`m signed up to every network, over time i`ve ended up dealing with just two of them, and about 90% of my dealings are with one of them.
I often see programs on other networks, and think I could promote them, but then they tend to fall by the wayside, and I end up sticking to programs from my main network.
Possibly if they also sorted out the commission structure.
2% base is very paltry in some areas and the 25p for a click and collect is an insult.

Nope - I'm just mercenary - it's all about the commission rate for me - 2% is plain insulting.

2% - oh
I may have jumped the gun a little with my comment. Hadn't looked in depth at their commission rates - kind of assumed they were sensible.
I wouldn't rush then...
Wouldn't rush but would certainly consider it
Granted commission is poor, though focus on whether the a program being on the right network for you influences the decision making process to how proactive you are on a program, whether an alternative network offers better support or tools.
Argos do have a token performance incentive
For Total Sales Amount equal to or greater than £5,000.00 GBP increase commission by 25.00%. ie 2.5% commision
For Total Sales Amount equal to or greater than £10,000.00 GBP increase commission by 50.00% ie 3% commission

I voted no. The problem for me is that most of my sales go through at 25p which means the sale amount is 50p, so I'd struggle to hit those tiers. If they credited your account with the real sales value then you'd have a much better chance. Maybe Argos was a bad example to use for this pole. For most other programmes I would have answered yes.
I agree, perhaps if they calculated in what proportion actually did "collect" & factor in returns i.e.
50% Collected & 70% Non-Returned (ie 30% of items returned) = 100 (0.5 x 0.7) = 35% of Basket Value.
I don't know what the average basket size is to ascertain if click & collect is a good or bad deal & not sure if click & collect have reversals or not.
Thus if we assume Average Basket Value = £50 .... then ..
£50 x 35% x 2% = 35 pence as against 25p .. but with the network receivingan assumed 30% override of the 35p .. this becomes 10.5p to the network & 24.5p (almost 25p) to the affiliate which comes out about right based on av. basket size only.
Yes, it would be better if it was a representation in value of the actual product sold.
Perhaps if we got figures on what proportion actually collected & what returns there are, better calculations can be formed.
But we cannot get away from delivered items at 2% could be improved.

Paul, you could have reworded this poll. "Does CJ's horrid interface discourage you from promoting their merchants?"
Or even, "Does being solely on CJ reduce the likelihood of a merchant doing well in the affiliate channel?"
I can't remember the last time I logged into CJ, it is just an unpleasant experience.

Should programs be allowed to be on more than one network?

There's also the issue charging for use of the data feeds while most of the innovation elsewhere in the UK has been on making product data easier to use. It seems to be a thing with US networks, although I noticed that Linkshare have waived this for their UK affiliates.
Even if you're not a big price comparison portal, it makes it very difficult to hand-pick niche ranges of products that you want to promote.
I don't mind dealing with CJ merchants, but I would be even more motivated if they joined one of the other networks like awin, buy.at, afuture or paidonresults.
I stopped pushing argos as got all too many 25p collect sales rather than the pultry 2% in my markets there is better merchants and I dont think this would improve on another network
For me its all about the commission rate, so regardless of the network, i still wouldn't be keen to promote them!
However - if the datafeed was available for free, i would certainly use them in some of my price comparison sites as their product range is one of the best.
