  Next Closing

I guess it was a dot on the cards, but i've just had the email from Aff Window re : Next affiliate program closing. I had stopped promoting them anyway a while ago ( see separate thread by Elaine ) - whats everyone elses thoughts on this? Its a high profile merchant seemingly pulling away from Aff Marketing!

I am gutted tbh. I wasn't doing too bad with them with directory sign-ups, but never promoted the actual 2% campaign.

Does anyone think that the thread on here and the 'bad publicity' that NEXT have got amongst the affiliate's feelings etc, is a somewhat direct result of NEXT pulling the plug ?

  Re: Next Closing

Its sad to see any company leave the Affiliate Marketing world... however they have been one of the rogues lately. I would be interested to hear again, what they said when they picked up their award as from memory, they seemed happy and confident going forward.

I hope that they are pulling out, taking stock of what we affiliates generated for them, and come back with a fair and proper programme in the future.

Doubt it, and if it is, then it's very narrow minded. Many merchants and networks want constructive feedback. The only way any company can improve is to address the issues that are wrong.

They're not pulling out - just switching to another network (for reasons I'm not aware of).

True, we shouldn't assume they're leaving the affiliate landscape for good - i found their conversion rate was always very good, but their ever decreasing commission rate was the reason i ultimately dropped them.

Just received notification that Next Directory and Next retail are closing on Affiliate Window, any one know if this is the same on CJ?

  Re: Next Closing

As others have said, they are not pulling out of Affiliate Marketing, just moving to another network..............watch for news though I don't think their choice of network will come as a surprise to many.......and when it comes out I think many will wonder if the move is for political rather than business reasons............cryptic, moi, never!!

Sorry, my fault, i did think they were pulling out altogether! I'm suprised, IMO Affiliate Window are one of the better networks to work with.

  Re: Next Closing

I really feel for Awin on this one. Essentially shouldering bad feeling, attempting to change the program for the better with the client and then seeing them move to......
Well, I'd be more than a little peeved.
Clearly there is a little agency influence here to....

  Re: Next Closing

The only thing is CJ don't actually notify you, just send you a de-activated notice so we will probably have to wait. So much for the email in December when Next changed Commissions and the program as they were looking for a succesful 2008 (well all 2 months of it)....

Yes Duncan, clearly ... The whole thing stinks like a very bad smell. I too feel for AW and all the crap they took over this program.

I don't think its necessarily the new or old networks who are to blame here, the issue could lie with the influence, control and dare I say it, the relationships between networks and agencies.

Perhaps the client needs to realise that affiliates talk, are passionate about providing candid feedback and that you can't hide things under the carpet and just move on - you must embrace Affiliate Marketing with all its good and grey points.

That said - we don't know every side of the story and I doubt we will as I expect next will remain very silent on this particular issue as I guess at the end of the day its a commercial decision which they don't need to explain on a public forum.

Interesting times ahead though - its certainly a dog eat dog world out there!
