    Hi

    Well i can help you; but this would be better placed on the "affiliate marketing lounge".

    CPM = cost per thousand impressions.
    - So if you have 50,000 visitors viewing 10 pages you have 500,000 impressions per day. You then multiply 500,000 by the number of ad slots you have e.g. a banner, a skyscraper = 1 million impressions (on the assumption you have these slots available on every page.)
    - If you want CPM, then you can go to places like ad.com, adjug.com, adify.com and hundreds of other ad networks
    - The more targeting you provide e.g. geography, demographic; the higher CPM you can obtain.

    I would recommend using some CPA banners if you can target well; since in all likelihood it will convert. Whether it makes more money than CPM is dependent on the targeting and your audience

    CPC = Cost per click
    - The impressions does not really matter, its merely a case of driving as many clicks as possible. The more clicks the more your get. Typically you can use Google AdSense, Yahoo, MIVA, 7Search and a number of other PPC networks - Google have the most advertisers and probably the highest CPCs on average - but the flexibility of the ad units is limited.
    - This flexbility increases as you move down networks; but the CPC falls also.
    - Again the more targeted you are, the higher CPC you can charge.

    Invariably it always comes back to conversions; if your site does not convert in to physical sales for the advertisers eventually you will lose their money and interest in your site. If you do not have the contacts to get new merchants, i would recommend utilising some one that does i.e. a network, or agency.

    Hope that helps.
