depends on the product and the target audience, to be honest. No point using a list which has been bled dry by some "dodgy" email company.
Initially, you could try
- a email list rental companies like pdv, if your product is good then you should no how much you can pay. there are hundreds more.
- Magazines/Publishing companies have big lists
- Websites who fit your demographic, that produce newsletters
Remember, companies who charge CPMs can run via CPAs. e.g. why not run a competition in a big email for a magazine newsletter i.e 5-10 users win X product. Everyone else gets sent to your landing page. People have to register to win i.e. you have a database of your own
Then add a "recommend a friend" and Bobs your uncle's brother
