Type in Traffic Domains - Use Affiliate programs or PPC ads?
I've got a few domains that generate some type in traffic. Up until now I've always redirected them through to affiliate programs.
However I'm wondering if I should be doing what domain registration companies often do - ie just have an automatic page that shows some random picture and a list of (essentially) ppc search results, which they get some revenue from.
Does anyone know if such a page would make more or less money on average than sending people to a standard affiliate link?
Does anyone know how I'd go about setting up something like this (I think Google only allows companies with huge amount of domains to join their adsense-domain-holding-page scheme)?
Thanks

You could try Sedo.co.uk's parking scheme as that will do everything you seem to be after. You can tailor the pages (to a certain extent) quite easily with some standard templates they provide.
e.g. caribbeanreality.com is a standard sedo parking page, set-up in 2 mins flat.
Personally, I would say sedo pages have been just OK for me, but the few good type-ins I have do work quite well.
I suppose it all depends on the type of type in traffic you get.Bud

I would test with Sedo first, but I guess it is down to the niche and traffic your domain receives, which will determine what is more profitable.

Hi Travelsite,
This is impossible to answer without knowing the industries in question and also the demographics of the visitors.
Eg. if you had a domain which was aimed at young teenagers, if you redirected the traffic to an affiliate program, then you would have a very low conversion rate as they have much less (if any) disposable income, plus very unlikely to have a credit card so wouldn't be able to purchase anything, so you wouldn't make any money.
Although if you parked the same domain and the same young teenager visitors landed on your site, they are much more likely to click something on your page, which is related to your website name subject, as it wouldn't cost them anything and therefore earning you something. Plus they would be not as educated as to what a "parked" page is.
If you do decide to park them, don't use sedo as I have found (along wth others) that the average price for a click is $0.05 - $0.10 (obviously depending on topic) Try namedrive.com as I have found them much better since switching from Sedo to Namedrive
Good luck and if you want any more of my advice then feel free to ask here or PM me

Thanks for the tip about namedrive, I hadn't heard of these before. Just had a look and seems very interesting.
I've signed-up to give it a shot as I've definitely got some sites that should be making more.
CheersBud
